research

I can learn something everyday and some days a little more.
E. Brinkman

By doing research, you can learn, again and again. In fact, you can ‘research’ anything. This part is mainly about Arjannes research with young children in a primary school. Inspired by TRIZ and OTSM-TRIZ, she started developing her own games by the end of 2008 – simply by cutting and pasting. During the first part of 2009, she ‘tested’ some of these games on the (young) children of friends and acquaintances. She wanted to find out whether the games that she developed were interesting enough for the children they are meant for. Before the summer holiday of 2009, she gets the opportunity to test one specific game on a large group of children at the local primary school. How happy can you be when what you supposed to be fun is really experienced that way by the children! In September 2009, she starts in school with four groups of four year old children each. She works one hour a week with them on subjects mainly based on ‘how can learning to learn be fun?’ This section contains her experiences.

verslag1-2010-2011 First semester report of 2010/2011

Just like last year, I want to regularly write reports about the activities of each semester to record the subjects I have worked on and what I learned from them. This year, I will work with almost the same groups of children. At the end of the last semester, I chose four ‘new’ children to replace the ones in the ‘problem’ group; one child shifted from a ‘normal’ group to a special ‘language’ group.

verslag4-2009-2010 Fourth semester report of 2009/2010

It’s been a while since the third semester report, but now the teachers have asked to know a bit more about what I’m doing, so that is an extra stimulus to make the reports!

In March and April 2010...

verslag3-2009-2010 Third semester report of 2009/2010

It is May (2010) when I write this report. I am aware that since last January I have not done one of the most important things of my work: writing a report for each semester. I will still try to write a report for the third and fourth semester, based on the reports of each lesson, which – fortunately – I did write.

In November-December 2009, I worked with the same groups of children as in the first semester. Sometimes – when children were sick – I took other children from the same age group.

verslag1-2009-2010 First semester report of 2009/2010

In September and October 2009, I worked with the youngest children in a primary school in my village. I had four groups of each four children, four years old. The groups are mixed: some children are a bit slow in development, others quite fast, both boys and girls. The groups also include children with a foreign background.
